2001 Chevy Tahoe Broken OBD II connector

I have a service engine soon light that came on. I hooked up an OBD II connector to it at 2 different locations, Auto Zone and Advanced Auto Parts, and neither of them got their tool to work. So we've determined there's a problem with the connection. Any suggestions?

Check the cigar fuse in the underhood fuse block, see if its blown. It;s on the same circuit as the obd connector. Post back if this does not work.
