My brakes have grinding sound when I stop. I know that I need to get them fixed asap, but I was wondering how much a brake job would cost. I've heard quotes from $100 to $300. Does that sound about right?

If your brakes are grinding, you probably need brake rotors. The parts alone should be around $300..If someone tells you that they can fix it for anything less than $500, then you will be back in a few months for sure. Only use factory replacement, or equal quality parts (A/C Delco). Aftermarket parts usually use weaker foreign steel and components, causing more trips to the mechanic....
