My truck has started making a whining noise that I believe is coming from the transmission. It only does it in gear and gets louder with speed. Fluid levels are fine in transmission and rear end. I would appreciate it if you could tell me what this is and what to do about it.

thanks,

Hard to say exactly what it is. could be a few things. When was the last service? If filter is plugged the pump could be whining.Could be that the pump is just beginning to fail,an internal gear is damaged, too many possibilities to know without disassembling the trans.
