My Hood latch will not open. Cable seem fine. I can hear it moving ,yet no release

I have the same problem with my 98 tahoe. To get it open I bang on the middle front part of the hood a little -- like "The Fonz" in Happy Days. In order to fix the problem you must replace the hood latch mechanism. Lubricating it will only work for so long.
