I, am thinking about buying this vehicle. I, am concerned however because it has not been started for 5 yrs. I, ve given a lot of thought and talked with sev. Shops about it. If you can give me any advice as far as the best way to go about preparing to even crank this thing over, i.E. Pulling plugs and injecting oil or something into the cylinders prior to starting. Besides the obvious oil and filter what about the cooling system and all the the other fluids, transfercase, transmission, brake, power steering, ect. What about the other things that have seals and gaskets that most likely have dried out. How long should the vehicle be run before these things have had enough pressure put on them to see whether or not they are OK or not. Thanks for any reply

Change oil, and oil filter.

Change air filter and clean out air ducts, check under hood for damaged wires from animals.

Drain out block AND radiator and refill with coolant.

Drop tank and drain the gas out, and add fresh gas. Change fuel filter.

Disconnect ignition and fuel system and crank for 10 seconds before reconnecting igniton and fuel system to start.

Also you might need a trans rebuild with new bands in it and new fluid and filter because sitting for a transmission is horrible.
