1998 Chevy Tahoe fuel pump

I am changing the fuel pump on this 98 tahoe. Do I need to change the connector. I have seen this warning on the 99's but not sure on the 98.

For what reason that you're replacing the fuel pump might not be it, talk to me

Checked relay and fuses. Pump doesn't run. Also the owner wants the pump changed because the sending unit is faulty as well.
