1997 Chevy Tahoe Steering wheel shakes

When I go over a bump, railroad track, etc., my steering wheel shakes, wobbles, shimmys for about 7 minutes and then it stops. What could cause this?

Check the front steering linkage. Pitman or Idler arm. Also check the ball joints.
