Hi, I recently have had the catalytic converter (not sure if there was one or two) took off, because if I went more than two miles it would start to putter and die. It runs fine now, but the mileage has dropped. Should I install a new one(s)? Also, it shakes when idle (I'm thinking that it's misfiring), when I get paid I'm going to get new spark plugs, and the oil changed. Will this fix the shaking?

I would replace the cat, the system is designed to have it and you will get a check engine light without it there. As far as the miss goes, you should replace the wires/cap/rotor/plugs/fuel filter by that mileage, possibly even twice by now, so it may help the misfire and mileage to do so. Use only OEM (A/C Delco) parts, cheaper are exactly that. Cheaper. Those engines had alot of problems with thefuel injectorsd going bad adn th efuel pressure regulators going out, so if it still misses you may be in for a bit of a repair bill, but definitly start basic and tune it up

Awesome, thanks. Is the one or two catalytic converters? And would O'Reiley have those parts?

You would have to look under it to see, they vary with the number of cats through those years. Im not sure, but I think Oreilleys would have A/C Delco parts
