1996 Chevy Tahoe V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 141K miles

ONLY DEFROST VENTS BLOW,BUT NO COLD AIR.I THINK I NEED TO CHANGE COMPRESSOR.DOES THE COMPRESSOR ALWAYS COME ON IF VACUMM SYSTEM FAILURE.

If the AC system has the amount of freon and you can hear the clutch engage the compressor you should be getting cold air-maybe the air blend door is stuck on the heat position
