1989 suburban 4x4....5.7 LO5.....137,XXX miles.

well about a month ago it started to slowly lose power under acceleration. now it runs like a champ for about 5 minutes or so then leans out real bad. i have replaced the ignition module, pickup coil, 02 sensor, injectors, regulator and did a complete tune up . only thing i havnt done so far was drop the tank and replace the fuel pump. the strange thing though is it'll run strong for a few minutes then lean out untill eventually the engine stalls, fires right back up and runs good for another few minutes. i did notice that every once in a while the headlights will go dim for no reason and the engine will hesitate for a second while this happens so i am thinking maybe the voltage to the fuel pump is dropping off and on. or maybe im way off but any suggestions would be very much appreciated. oh and i ditched the cat a long time ago so that isnt an issue. thanks

Scan for trouble codes for a problem, your IAT sensor may be bad also. The reason your lights dim is that your car is starting to die out causing the alternator to not properly supply the proper voltage and current, thats why the lgights are more hten likely dimiing

The TBI engine is not equiped with an IAT sensor, but I did check out the CTS and temp switch. Both are within spec. Also blocked off all vacuum except to the MAP sensor and evap canister. Egr has been blocked off. Are there any other electronic components that would cause the ECM to lean out the fuel ratio? I have been having some odd electrical problems lately. Ecm ground is good. Maybe a bad ground somewhere else? Or an electrical short somewhere even tho im not blowing any fuses. Im about ready to burn this damn thing! Lol

Map or Air intake sensor. Could have a bit of corrosion on the electrical fittings causing it to read properly but not throw a code. Could be a bad connector somewhere along the line. Also bad coolant temp sensor or sending unit
