2004 Chevy Suburban oil gauge

while driving along my oil gauge jumped to well passed 80. when i stopped and turned off the engine it fell back to just under 80. do i need a new gauge or is there something else i can do?

Hi there,

This may be a faulty sender unit, but to make sure get the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge as this will give you a true indication of engine oil pressure, start here.
