2003 Chevy Suburban Air conditionor only works on high

My A/C only works on High not the lower levels, plus it causes my idle to go up and down, making the air warmer. What can cuase this and to fix it? My A/C is with a knob not digital. This only happens on the front A/C not the rear A/C.
