1999 Chevy Suburban stall/eratic RPM reverse

I have a 5.3. Periodically when I put it in reverse the motor behaves eratically, often stalling. If I step on the gas it usually goes away. Thanks.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

No - no check engine light is coming on. Have not checked vaccuum lines.
