Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Chevy Suburban V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 119k miles

My suburban won't crank unless primed.
I had a friend check fuel pressure. It is fine if the engine is running but immediately leaks down when the engine is stopped. When I turn the switch back on I hear the fuel pump engage but their is no fuel pressure and no cranking. Runs great otherwise. Any suggestions?

Hello, cranking is starter action, I guess your saying it cranks good, but won't start unless primed? If the pump is running, I don't know why there is no pressure, unless something wrong with the pump or wiring circuit. Key on or engine cranking is battery voltage to the pump. Engine running is alternator voltage. It shouldn't bleed down like that. After you build some pressure, kill it, then block the supply and return line, see if it still bleeds down.
