1995 chevy suburban took a 2000 mile trip, last 300 miles was rough, ability to excelerate was by slowly giving gas, engine almost dying out at stops. - engine light on. checked codes (44) oxygen sensor, replaced it, very little change in engine performance. problem seemed systematic of clogged gas filter. changed it although i could blow through the old one. big improvement, but still getting (44) code on 40 mile trips, engine lacks fast exceleration, some stalling at idle. Replaced plugs, distributor cap/rotor, checked timing. 3000 miles on the changed plugs, little white burn on them, same with O2 sensor. no blck smoke and not running rich, EGR valve seems to work. replaced fuel pump relay. could pump be going? what else could it be ????

check your vacuum at idle. if it's 15" or so then check for a plugged converter.
