Hello I have a 94 Chevy Suburban and a few weeks ago I notice a slight change in the way the car drives and idles when I am on the highway the car is fine until about 55 mph then a violent shake begins if I take my foot off the gas or press harder to about 60mph it stops it only happens when slightly touching the pedal at or around 55mph I also notice the same day this started the car seems to idle a little rougher although it still reads the same very low at well under 1 what can cause this to happen

Hi:
What you are describing sounds like a bad universal joint. They are located at each end of each driveshafts. With the parking brake on so the truck can't move, have someone put the truck in neutral (not running) and grab each u-joint to see if there is play in them.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

What is happening with the 4wd? Does it seem that the vehicle is staying in 4wd? If so, that can cause the vibration too.

Let me know.

No the past snow storm we have had up here in upstate New York I notice that my 4wd is not working correctly when I switch the lever into 4wd it shakes as if it is on but I still slide all over the place even got stuck a few times. My driveway is on a slight hill so at night I put the parking brake on. One day I notice that the 4wd lever reads put in neutral and apply parking brake I did so and when I tried to pull the 4wd lever into neutral I got a l shock and a noise like I did something wrong, every since the 4wd has not been working right I wonder if this may have caused the shake problem but like I said before only at 55mph

You did nothing wrong. I would suggest having the 4wd linkage checked to see if it is loose and not going correctly into gear. Also, let me know about the u-joints.
