1989 Chevy Suburban V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

while driving the accelerator stopped working. the engine is revving, but the car won't move in any gear. the linkage to the transmission is fine. don't know what to do next. please help

Is the trans fluid full? Also, has the check engine light come on?
