Transmission problems

Hi, I recently bought a 2000 Silverado 2500, 6.0L automatic with 92,000mi. After purchasing the truck, I drove it about 30 miles and it started to shift hard. I shut the truck off and it resolved. After another period of time it began again always resolving either by shutting the truck off or disconnecting the battery. The dealership has replaced the TCC sol and flushed the trans and replaced the filter. They keep finding a fault code which upon deleting it, resolves the problem. Despite the correction, it still continues to shift hard after about 30 miles of hwy driving. When it is shifting hard my RPM's seem to increase about 2000-3000. The dealership is stumped or they just don't want to fix a major problem. Any suggestions?

p.S. I put 285/75 r16 tires on. Could that be the problem?

I dought that the change in tire size is your problem. What code are they getting out of it? A p1870 for componet slipping would be my guess. 90% of the time it is due to a problem in the valvebody. I would have the valvebody inspected and replaced if needed. The bad part about it is that it I very hard to find problems with the valvebody sitting on the bench. They will just have to inspect it really good.

I agree, there is a long list of valve body updates for GM transmissions around those years, and one of them is to solve the hard 1-2 shift.

2CarPro Jack.

I'm starting to get a hard 1-2 shift in a '97 Chevy 5.7, 1500.40,000 miles

Do the valve body updates for GM transmissions cover my truck as well?

Thanks for the help!
