Rough Shift/Surge in Traffic

1997 Silverado 1500, 5.7L, auto trans, 40,000 miles, 2wd. This only happens in heavy traffic (stop and go driving) after the truck warms up. In slow traffic, when shifting between 1st and 2nd gears, the truck seems to either surge just a little or has a rough shift (seems more like a surge). It's not too bad. Yet. Just want to know if something is about to go out, or needs to be replaced. Thanks for the help!

When you say surge between gears is it like it slips a little or slides into gear? There were a bunch of valve body updates for the 1-2 shift in those trannies, that could be the problem. Check Engine Light on?

No, the check engine light is not on and has not come on in the past.

I don't think it's slipping. It feels like it lunges forward a little in the 1-2 shift.

Might want to have a trans shop look at it, could just be a solenoid problem
