I also replaced the heater switch and that worked for about an hour then something smelled like it was burning and it quit working

I see this question has been asked a few times and nobody responds to it. Why? I know somebody must know the answer because to many people have had this problem when you do a search.

I am having the same problem. 1996 Chevy Silverado/K1500. I noticed it starting making a thumping noise whenever i turned my truck on a couple months ago and then last week I started it up and the directional controls wouldn't work. It just stays blowing on the floor. The heat works, cold air works, the AC won't work because I can't get it to blow out of the dash. You said you fixed the problem, so I hope you see this post and can let me know what it was/is.

Thanks
