I would like to know how to hook the brake light for a cap that I installed on my 2009 pickup a chevy silverado.

You need to locate the power supply wire to the brake light on the tail lights. Basically, you can splice into that. Make sure it doesn't have a chance to short. Cover the splice with electrical tape, shrink tape, 3M makes a conncector to do this...
