2008 Chevy Silverado valve stems and sensors

I have a 08 silverado with steel rims. I got 06 lt rims that do not have sensors. If the dealer cannot put new sensor valve stems to mount the 08 sensors, what other options do I have?
A local tire repair shop said they have been putting the sensors in the spare tire and the system will read all sensors in one tire.

i never heard of that,plus i dont think i would do it. is the truck under warranty. if it is you might wanna double check with them, it may void the warranty
