I just changed my transmission fluid and filter. After I finished, the transmission temp guage immediaetely started reading that it was getting hot. After about 30 minutes of driving, a warning light came on saying that the transmission was overheated. It's never overheated until I did this service. It was changing gears a little rough, but it wouild never get hot. I think I put too much fluid in.

My question:

Will too much fluid cause this?
How much fluid does my truck take?

With the engine hot, running, and in park, the level should be in the hot range of the dipstick. Is that where yours is? Also, did you replace the filter or have a power flush done?

Let me know.
