2006 Chevy Silverado four wheel drive

i have had to use my four wheel drive a severa ltimes this week. Two of the five or six times i put it in four wheel drive it made a grinding noise before it kicked in. i was going about five miles an hour or less when i pushed the four high button. what is causing the grinding noise?

I was going about five miles an hour each time i put it in four wheel drive.
