EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS. THE NEEDLE IS USUALLY JUST LAYING ALL THE WAY CLOCKWISE, BUT SOMETIMES IS AT A RANDOM NUMBER AND GOES ALL THE WAY CLOCKWISE WHEN I ACCLERATE AND STAYS THERE. IT WAS WORKING FINE WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP. DAN

Get you a new instrument cluster. I had one not too long ago doing just about the same thing. I replaced the inst. Cluster and all was well. Something's gone 'haywire' in the speedometer head. You can probably find one at a wrecking yard with similar milage. Or, the dealreship may send it off to be repaired and keep the milage correct. Either way, I'm pretty sure that's what you need.

Does anyone know why the dealer refuses to repair the broken speedometer on my 2005 silverado free of charge, with 43k miles, because the truck was manufactured after 12/04, it was manufactured in 02/05?

I had the same problems. Inst cluster solved it. Gm is suppose to replace those clusters if you have less than 70k. I had more and bought mine used after market from a guy I found on ebay.
