IS IT POSSIBLE(HARD) TO CHANGE THE RACK AND PINION ON A CHEVY SILVERADO TRUCK OR IS IT BEST TO HAVE A MECHANIC DO IT?

It is very simple. You will need an alignment after it is replaced.
