My truck has been in and out of the repair shop for the past 3 weeks. First week I told them had power steering issues and they said they couldn't duplicate issue. Second week informed them that issue was mainly noticed when you put vehicle in reverse. After diagnosing, stated that power steering gear box was bad and had caused my power steering pump to go bad as well, they replaced this last week. I got the truck back on Thursday night drove to work and tried to back into a spot - granted my truck is an extended cab and long bed, but it didn't even feel like the truck had power steering at all. What else could be the issue? And why have they misdiagnosed my problem 2 different times.

Have they checked the steering sensor? It adjust power assist based on vehicle speed.
