My 2005 Silverado K1500HD has an AC issue. The AC run well when I am driving on the interstate or at speed. When I am stopped or in stop and go traffic the temp raises to an uncomfortable level. In this heatwave its almost unbearable.
Please help me!

Okay, I think I know what the cooling fans are, however there does not seem to be cooling fans on this vehicle. I assume they would be in front of the radiator or exchanger for the AC. From what I can see (going back to front) there is the radiator for the engine, the exchanger for the AC(smaller) and what I assume is a exchanger for the oil (even smaller). There are no fans on any of these exchangers. The radiator fan is behind the bid radiator toward the cab. Thanks!!

Thanks for working with me in this. I pulled the plastic cover off the top of the radiator and there are no fan infront of or behind the oil heat exchanger, the AC heat exchanger or the engine radiator. See picts.

There is a fixed fan attached to water pump? if yes does not compute year and make correct? so with fan clutch system see the center of fan assembly round thing about 6in. across? that is fan clutch viscous coupling. Engine at op. temp. fan should be firm ie. hard to turn by hand. if easy replace.

The is a large off white plastic fan infront of the water pump that the serpentine belt is attached to. There are no other fans from that fan forward or rear. See picts.

The clutch replacement will fix the AC issue? How are they related?

Thanks

Driving at speed A/C works because ram air is driven through condenser to cool. In traffic if clutch is faulty it will not pull enough air through Condenser to cool freon so A/C stops blowing cold.
