2005 Chevy Silverado Engine Hour Digital Meter Gauge

Why have my engine hour digital meter gauge reset itself? It reads now 25.6 hours. Can a low battery cause this to happen. One month ago the battery got to low to crank the engine. I had to charge the battery, now i don't let the inside lights come on when the door is open. And i set the head lights to turn off quick when i turn off the engine. Thank you for your help.

Some owners may comment of the ipc engine hour meter resetting. This concern may be very intermittent and normally occurs at start up.this concern does not occur if the vehicle has proper battery voltage at the IPC during cranking. Listed below are areas to inspect when diagnosing this concern:1. Check the battery/s with the Midtronic's battery tester and also perform a load test using a Vat40 or similar load tester to make sure the battery/s are in good condition.2. Check the battery cables and make sure all connections are clean and tight. If the battery/s were previously replaced for leaking, check the cables for corrosion.3. Check the IPC powers and grounds.so to answer question yes a low battery can cause this,post back with what you find and will help if this does not work.
