My '04 Silverado makes a ticking noise at all times. It seems to get faster as you accelerate. You can really hear it when the truck is idoling. My Brother said his made the same noise and feels it was the fly wheel that needed to be replace. Is this true? or could it be something else?

Hi Eldred! Oh boy, where to begin. Aeriation in the engine oil, torn or cut oil pump o-ring, rocker arms, push rods, worn or dirty lifters, AC belt tensioner.

Can't say that I have encountered a noisy flywheel before, but anything is possible.

If the noise is just a small ticking that you hear in driver's area, and not in the engine, the instrument cluster has stepping motors that go bad and will make a constant ticking noise. The instrument cluster can be repaired. do a search on ebay for instrument cluster to find several repair options. Dealer charges $300.00
