2004 Chevy Silverado tie rod and center link

Was told I need a new tie rod and center link, but other mechanic said rarely does a center link have to be changed just the tie rod ends. How do I change the tie rod inner and outer?

THe center link can go bad too. As far as the tie rods, remove the cottor pin, remove the nut holding it on, using a splitter seperate the joint, and then loosten the locking device that the tie rid is screwed into. NOTE: Before removing this part, measure the length from the end of the tie rod to where it screws in. You need that to be the same. Reverse the sequence to replace. I also recommend having the alignment checked after doing this.
