We have our truck in for service for this noise and have been told that a wheel bearing needs to be replaced at a cost of $643 dollars plus alignment. Does this make sense? What happens if we don't do it?

Well your bearings will one heat everything up and cause problems with your brakeing amongst other things and two it can disintergrate and really heat things up and get loud. As far as the price, I sometimes wish I could be around to do some of these repairs because these prices are rediculous. Get yourself a second opinion or even third and do not go to the dealers unless its under warranty and its gonna be done for free. Dealers are way higher than normal shops
