2004 Chevy Silverado my gas gauge dont work and i was told

everything on the instrument panel (cluster)work except the gas gauge and the orange light indicater is always on and needle never moves.

There could be a flaw in the armature for the fuel level sensor, ther could be a wiring problem from the pump to the PCm and to the gauge, or the cluster itself. The cluster failure rate is abnormally high for these trucks.
