changing transmission fluid on a 2004 chevy silverado 4 wheel drive. Is there a filter and easier wasy to add new fluid other than the dip stick area

You have to remove the transmission pan to see the filter. As far as refilling it, that is the only way to do it.

PS: Make sure to get a composite gasket that it more paper like. The rubber ones and the cork ones are very easy to overtighten and cause a leak.
