2003 Chevy Silverado starting

When I start my truck up in the morning it has a loud taping noise and excesses smoke from the tail pipi this started when I had a sensor replace in the fuel tank

Welcome to the forum, found a service bulletin, you'll have to decide if it applies to you. I can't be sure if the previous service work caused your problem?
