Heater problem
2003 Chevy Silverado V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2003 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.6L duramax. The heater stopped working, I replaced the T-stats and still no heat. instead of ripping apart the entire dash to replace the heater core i installed an aftermarket heatercraft heater. The hoses are clear, and the supply hose gets got up to a foot from the block, but then cools down. My question is, is there a maximum length that the hose should be (mine are about 5') or what else could be causing the lack of water? i suspected the waterpump, but have no leaks, and the truck does not overheat. Thanks

You didnt say how many miles are on it, but the vanes on waterpumps have been known to disolve over time, and first symtom is low/no heat, but enough vane left to cool the engine.
