Replaced fuel pump 10,000 miles ago. Now turn key and it turns over but not start until third or fourth turn of key. After shutting off it will start up again if I do not wait to long. Fuel pressure reads 48psi on turn of key (not trying to start) but does not hold pressure it drops quickly. During first or second try to start pressue hits 48 psi but then again drops quickly. Truck runs perfectly once it starts no hesitation or idle problems. Filter has been replaced recently and when I pull fuse in fuse box underhood while the truck is running the truck dies quickly. I do not hear the pump come on but really never did since I brought it. Thanks for suggestions, Gene

First, check the fuel pressure regulator. It is located on the driver side of the intake manifold. It mounts on the fuel rail. It will have a small vacuum hose going to it. Turn the ignition to the run position, pull the vacuum hose from the regulator and see if it has fuel leaking into the hose. If it does, replace the regulator. If no fuel, cycle the key a couple more times. If still no leak, check the fuel pump installation.
