I broke down coming home from x-mas vacation in Mississippi jusr 10 miles from Memphis. The tranny was winding and I couldn't get in gear. I had this before under warranty (@80,000 then) and the dealer said the sun-shield broke. They fixed it and now at 170 thousand I have the same thing but now dealer says its not thier problem, Alocal tow/auto center installed a Jasper re-built. But when I start it the idles go crazy, they told me the idle sensors need to recalculate and I should be fine. Well, i'm not fine it still does it and now my service engine light is on, please advise on what steps to take before I blow up.

First, have it scanned for trouble codes. Let me know what you get.
We need a good starting point first.

I got the codes from a local mechanic, they are po 171 and po174. A right bank lean fuel and left bank lean fuel. I replaced the fuel filter December 07. The first start up in the morning is when I get the high idle to low idle then eventually stall unless I rrev it a lil to maintain a idle. After that it seem alot better. The mechanic check for vacuum leak and found nothing. I appreciate your response, thanks

You need to replace the intake manifold gaskets. They have a temperature related leak condition. This should fix it.

Hi, thanks again for your reply. How confident are you that this will fix it? Is it an expensive repair? Like I stated earlier, its does the high idle at the first start up in the morning, then next time I start to go somewhere it turns over at normal idle. Thanks again.

This will fix it, and it's not too expensive.

No. There is even a service bulletin on the intake gasket condition.
