needs a knock sensor replaced

I have an 01' 5.3L Silverado that needs a knock sensor replaced. I have the part, just need to know where it is at, how to replace it and how long it should take. Thanks!

Hello Thanks for the donation. Your knock sensor is located in the valley, under the intake manifold (See Figure Below).

Replacement of your knock sensor usually takes between 2.5 - 3.0 hours for an experienced mechanic. To remove, disconnect negative battery cable. Remove intake manifold. Disconnect wiring harness connector from knock sensor. Remove knock sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install sealant to sensor threads prior to installation. Tighten knock sensor to 15 Ft. Lbs. (20 Nm). Hope this helps.. Thanks for using 2carpros.com!
