Engine Cooling problem
2001 Chevy Silverado 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I am trying to drain the coolant from the engine block, as I am flushing the system. Are there one or two plugs on the v6 and, if only one, which side and where is it? Is it totally necessary to drain the engine block? I appreciate any help.

Hi:
I believe it's on the passanger side. Regardless, if you remove the thermostat, you will flush everything out without draining the block.
