2000 Chevy Silverado turn signal switch

We are having trouble getting the wiring from the old turn signal switch system unplugged so we can put in a new one. Is there a special trick to this procedure? You help would be greatly appreciated.

there is a small bolt that goes through the middle of the connector. I think it takes a 7 or 8mm socket.
