I have a 2000 Silverado (Z71 LS 4x4). Love this truck. I bought it New in 2001 with only 96 Miles on it. I now have over 278000 Miles on it and it still looks/runs great.
I recently replaced the Instrument Cluster.
I found one at a Salvage Yard and upon installing it, the Mileage and Hours reads that of the vechicle it was taken out of.
Why/How is this information retained in the Instrument Cluster and not the Truck's "Computer"?
Is there any way to make this read the Mileage/Hours that I actually have on the vechicle?

You will have to take it to the dealer for reprogramming.
