I have a 2000 silverado 2wd with a manual 5 speed tranny. lately it has been tough to get into 1st when stopped, and i have to over excelerate the engine to keep the truck from dying when backing up. there is also some chattering when the clutch is engaged. does this sound like a clutch issue, or a master/slave cylinder issue?

If you have a chattering when you pull out, chances are it has to do with either the clutch disc or the pressure plate. As far as the slave, that would make it hard to get into gear.

Let me know if you have other questions.
