My truck sounds like it has lifters koncking under the left vavle cover, what causes this to happen and how do you fix that. I rarely start it up and drive it maybe once a week or once every 2 weeks.

Hi there,

This will be a faulty hydraulic lifter, when left for extended periods they can bleed down and when engine started they rattle as they have no oil pressure, sometime they fail due to a sticky interval valve or just gum up. there are a fer additive that can help clean then out, but the only real solution is to replace them and run the engine up to operating temp on a regular basis , this will keep th oil up to them.
