2000 Chevy Silverado fuel pump

I changed the fuel pump. I'm getting current to it but the pump will not respond. I can not find the reason it won't start. What step am I missing.

Could be very well be the fuel pump or the ground side of the pump circuit is open.

How do I find out if the ground side is open? Is there any relays that could be bad?
