What type and weight of differential fluid should I use in the front and rear differentials on my truck? The truck is a 2000 Chevy Silverado extended cab Z71 4X4 with 5.3 liter vortec and automatic tranmission.

Okay listen up, it depends if you have a locking differential or not, if you have a locking differential do not add friction modifier because you will ruin the clutches, if it is a locking differential in other words posi-traction use your standard 80W-90, and if it is not a lockup use 75W-140 synthetic gear oil the front will take about 2qt and the rear will take almost 3qt, you may have to call the dealer give them your Vin number and have them tell you if you have locking differential or not
