How do I change out the heater coil and do I need to pull the whole dash?

REMOVAL:
Drain engine coolant.
Recover the refrigerant (requires use of special tool J 39500-B for recovering,recycling and recharging refrigerant as well as special tool J 41810 Pureguard 2 and tool J 41810-100A High Intensity Black Light).
Remove heater/vent module by performing following steps:
Remove the heater hoses, the accumulator, the instrument panel carrier and the HVAC module drain hose. Disconnect electrical harness and ground connections as needed. Remove mounting nuts and screws from HVAC module.
Remove heater core cover screws (fig 1)
Remove heater core cover.
Remove heater core. (fig 2)
INSTALLATION:
Install heater core.
Install heater core cover.
Install heater core cover screws and tighten screws to 14 LB IN (1.6 Nm)
Install heater vent module by reversing removal procedure of module, tighten mounting screws to 35 LB IN (4 Nm) and mounting nuts to 80 LB IN (9 Nm)
Recharge the A/C system.
Refill engine coolant.
