I blew a plug and had it repaired with an insert. Seems to be running ok but I frequently pull a travel trailer weighing about 4900 lbs. Can I expect this to happen again? Should I consider getting a new truck?

Hi billy2292. Welcome to the forum. This is the first I've heard of a GM product doing this. It's pretty common on Fords. Never heard of it on Dodges.

A 4900 pound trailer isn't that big of a deal for a truck. I pull a heavier enclosed trailer with my '88 Grand Caravan! Of course that is old enough it doesn't have the troublesome computer-controlled transmission.

One thing that IS real common on GM vehicles starting in 1987 is their generators. You can expect to go through four to six in the life of the truck, but that's hardly a reason to trade it unless you're concerned about being stranded in the wilderness.
