Im in some need of help, Ive received a 99 silverado 2500 that came from my brother. The truck shifts hard and shrugs while accelerating in Drive. Its like the ass cant keep up? You can manually shift 1-2-3-Drive to highway speed, but to move in low rpms it shudders hard. You can feather the gas pedal to make it work but if you had to punch it the truck would chatter an not shift? Ive heard that a trans filter replacement will help, to a whole trans replacement. Still not sur. I want to make it work and keep it around.

When you put it in drive, will it shift on its own?

It will shift in drive if you work the pedal. Had to change oxygen sensor for smog and it seems to make it worse. Sensors bad somewhere else?Im kinda at a stand still. Its a good project, never know whats next. Thanks for the replys

It sounds like a problem with the shift solenoids. If you are able to make it shift, that is my first guess.

This sounds like something in the trans and might be something out of my league. What intails changin em and if I go that far should the tranmission be rebuild?
