I have a 99 chevy silverado and lately I've been having problems w/ the door on the passenger side (3-door model, so front door..).

One issue is the window taking forever to roll up, which I suspect is a worn regulator system that I figure I'll have to replace.

The main issue is the door lock. I'm not sure exactly what happened but the tumbler (where the key goes in on the outside) has fallen into the door. I tool the door apart and attempted to mount the tumbler back into place but it won't stay, it just pops back in when you insert the key. This isn't so much a problem as the locks are electronically controlled but when the tumbler falls in it's causing the rods to malfunction failing to unlock the door.

My question is what to do? Does the entire mechanism need to be replaced? Is there something I can do to mount the tumbler in permanently? Please help, thank you.

You just need the clip in the diagram or the housing you put the cylinder is broken and will no longer hold clip in place.Look in the bottom of the door the clip should be there some where.Sounds like a weak window motor or the window is binding in the window channel that would cause a slow window.

I did find a bunch of pieces in the bottom of the door including the metal clip. Unfortunately there was a plastic piece that was broken. Unless I need a whole new assembly I'm planning to try and insert the pin again?

If you have piece's in the bottom of the door that would explain why the clip feel out.Sound's like the door handle assembly has broken and the piece's are in the bottom of the door.Take a look at where the cylinder fit's in and see if it look's broken there.Let me know what you find.
